Mitxoda Weekly #15: Being Free, Starting 2025 with Respect and Passion
Music, Community, and the Safe Space We Build Together

Song of the Week : Respect by Alliance Ethnik (released on January 28, 1995).
Hello Dear Friend!
As we step into 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what it means to create a space where music, art, and mutual respect thrive. Mitxoda Weekly has always been more than a newsletter, it’s a community built on shared creativity and understanding. This week, I’m addressing the value of freedom, the meaning behind my tracks, and the importance of respect in our indie world. Let’s start this new chapter together, on a foundation of positivity and inspiration.
Au menu, this week:
Table of Contents
Patience is my latest instrumental, a tranquil meditation on resilience and the beauty of letting life unfold naturally. Built on evolving minimalist motifs, the piece invites listeners to slow down, breathe, and embrace the art of waiting with grace and strength. No released date yet :-) If you want to support me, please download for my tracks on Bandcamp, thanks a lot! 🎶✨
Mitxoda News: Digital Detox, Out Jan 08!
Digital Detox (release date January 8, 2025) is an instrumental track that serves as a reflection on the overwhelming presence of technology in modern life and the liberation found in stepping away from it. The piece explores themes of reconnection, both with oneself and the natural world, by taking a break from the constant noise of digital devices and online demands.
The composition is characterized by a dynamic blend of electronic and organic elements. It begins with slow electronic piano, pulsating beats and fragmented, glitch-like melodies, evoking the chaotic and overstimulated state of being "plugged in." As the track progresses, these elements fade into more chaos, natural harmonies and faster rhythms, symbolizing the gradual unwinding of the mind and a possible restoration of balance.
Digital Detox captures the duality of our relationship with technology, both its allure and its potential to overwhelm. It invites listeners to imagine the clarity and peace that comes from disconnecting and focusing on what truly matters. The track is as a modern-day anthem for mindfulness and intentional living, aligning with broader themes of introspection and emotional resonance I already proposed in earlier tracks. I hope you will like it. Digital Detox is the 4th track of my EP Distant and Close.
Long Read: Being Free, A New Chapter for 2025
Being free means Respect
Respect for others, respect for ourselves, and respect for the work we each put into building a community that uplifts and inspires. As I look ahead to this new year, I feel the need to address something important: the value of mutual understanding and the need for positivity in our shared indie space.
This newsletter is my garden. It is a place where ideas, music, and connections grow. It's open to all, but with one simple rule: respect. Respect for the time, effort, and dedication that every individual pours into their work, no matter how big or small.
Unfortunately, I’ve recently felt hurt. Hurt by negativity, by an attitude of entitlement, and by the disregard for the effort it takes to create something meaningful. Let me be clear: no one owns the indie world. See the Indie World as the ocean, a vast, shared space that no one owns, yet everyone can explore and draw inspiration from. Just as the ocean connects and nourishes all who interact with it, the indie world thrives on the contributions and connections of its many participants, without belonging to any single entity. No one is obliged to contribute or take part. The beauty of it lies in the genuine connections and creations that come from the heart, enriching this shared space in their own unique way.
This community thrives because of mutual exchanges, shared creativity, and a willingness to support one another. It is not a space for frustration over being forgotten in an email or mentioned in a newsletter.
Being free means Comfort
We are all here because we love what we do. I spend countless hours writing, discussing, and connecting, not because I have to, but because I believe in the power of this community. I do it with pleasure in English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Hungarian. I believe in creating a safe and welcoming space where people feel comfortable to share, to receive, to collaborate. Hate, anger, and selfishness have no place here.
This doesn't mean we always have to agree or see things the same way, but it does mean we should approach one another with kindness. Disrespect, discouragement, and attempts to undermine what others build serve no one. And while I understand that not everyone will see eye to eye, I will not let negativity take root in this garden.
For those who feel they need to express frustration or criticism, I encourage you to do so constructively. Engage in dialogue, reach out, and offer feedback that builds rather than tears down. This is how we grow, not just as individuals, but as a community.
Being free means Positivity
As we step into 2025, my focus remains clear: to foster a space of respect, creativity, and collaboration. I invite everyone who shares these values to join me in creating something beautiful. For those who may not share these values, I respect your journey and kindly ask that this space remains a positive haven for those who do.
My freedom is not up for debate, nor is the respect I have earned from those who truly know and understand me. This is not about being seen as someone or something, it’s about giving back to a community I believe in. I do this with my own two hands, my broken laptop, and a passion for indie music that never wavers.
Being free means A Permanent Open Door
This year marks a fresh start. My garden is once again a safe and open space, beautifully decorated with mutual respect and the shared love of music. To those who have supported me and this newsletter, thank you. You are the reason this community thrives, and I am endlessly grateful.
Here’s to a 2025 filled with positivity, creativity, and the freedom to be ourselves. Let’s keep building this indie world together: stronger, kinder, and more inspiring than ever.
Yours, forever,
Mitxoda
Historical Fact: A Queen's Place in Rock History
On January 3, 1987, Aretha Franklin shattered barriers and made history as the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Known as the "Queen of Soul," her powerful voice and timeless hits like "Respect" and "Think" not only defined an era but also paved the way for countless women in music. This monumental recognition celebrated her unparalleled influence on the world of music and culture, marking a turning point in acknowledging women's contributions to rock and roll. Aretha’s induction remains a reminder of the doors she opened and the legacy she left behind.
Here it is! A little slice of history shared just for you!

Until Next Week: Music, Where Passion Meets Vulnerability
Music is more than a craft or an escape for me, it’s where my passion meets my fears. It’s where I channel my joys, struggles, and everything in between, weaving them into melodies and lyrics that I hope resonate with those who listen. Each song I write is a reflection of the moments that shape me, the stories I want to tell, and the emotions I need to release.
But I also understand that not everyone is ready, or even wants, to dive into the meaning behind every lyric I write. That’s okay. Art is about meeting people where they are, offering them something they can take away, even if it’s different from what I originally intended. For me, though, each lyric is a shout into the void, an expression of something deeply personal that I can’t keep inside.
The Mitxoda Weekly has become my way of opening that door, of building a bridge between the music and the stories behind it. This newsletter is my safe garden, welcoming and open to anyone who wants to step inside. And judging by the response so far, it’s a garden that many of you value. Out of 124 readers, only two have unsubscribed since October 24. That means a lot to me, because it shows that those who stay understand the logic behind this weekly. You see the sensitivity in the topics I choose, the care I put into every word, and the intention behind each story.
Today’s long read, for instance, isn’t just a response to a situation. It’s bigger than that. It’s about creating a safe base for this community as we step into 2025, a space for everyone, for music, for art, and for life. I’m not here to name names or to dwell on negativity. That’s not the point. Instead, I want to affirm the values that bring us together: respect, creativity, and the freedom to express ourselves without fear.
As I assume more than ever what I want to shout, what I want to express, I know this: music is the heartbeat of this garden. It’s what binds us, inspires us, and pushes us to keep creating. So as we move forward into the new year, let’s carry this spirit with us. Let’s embrace the art we love, support the voices that need to be heard, and continue building this community together.
With love and gratitude,
Mitxoda
