Mitxoda Weekly #3 – A Journey Through Sound and Collaboration

This week, I’m diving into collaboration, my personal journey, and the inspirations driving new projects.

Song of the Week : Cosmic Travellers (Remastered) by Stratification Music & Sirius Blueray (released on Oct 2, 2024).

Hi friend!

Welcome back to Mitxoda Weekly #3! This week, we’re diving deeper into the heart of collaboration, reflecting on the journey of Mitxoda, and exploring new sounds that continue to shape this project. Let’s dive in!

Au menu, this week:

Insight of the Week: Collaborating on No Rescue (feat. Sonophagen)

One of the most exciting parts of my musical journey has been the chance to collaborate with artists across the globe. My latest track, "No Rescue," is a collaboration with Sonophagen, a band from Aguascalientes, Mexico. This track marks my first release in English, and it was the perfect moment to bring to life lyrics I had written years ago. These words had been waiting for the right music, and I’d never quite found the right fit—until now.

"No Rescue" represents a deeper transformation—capturing the moments where life feels overwhelming, and you're desperately seeking clarity. Sonophagen and I connected over our shared love for creating atmospheric soundscapes. We both wanted to explore the feeling of being on the edge—whether that’s the edge of something breaking or something beautiful emerging. The song’s tension lies in that contrast, and through our collaboration, we’ve created a track that feels personal yet universal.

The process involved layering Sonophagen’s powerful guitar work with my atmospheric keys and vocals, building the song piece by piece. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created, and I can't wait for you to hear it when it drops on October 18th.

Poll of the Week: How Do You Discover New Music?

I’m always curious about how people find their new favorite songs and artists. Is it through recommendations, playlists, or something else? Let’s take a quick poll:

  • Spotify Playlists

  • Radio

  • Friends’ Recommendations

  • Social Media

  • Live Performances

Let’s see where the best music discoveries are happening for you!

Results from last week’s poll (What Instrument Moves You Most?): Both guitar and synth lead as the most inspiring instruments, capturing one-third of the total votes, while guitar, synth, piano, and drums each individually resonated with an equal portion of the remaining participants.

Story Time: Mitxoda, part 3

Mitxoda’s journey has always been about growth and exploration, but this week I want to dive a bit deeper into what’s behind the music. If you’ve been following since the early days, you’ve probably noticed how each track is a step forward into something new—whether it’s sound, emotion, or storytelling.

When I released my first track, Echo Plastique, it was a declaration of where I was at that moment—experimenting with electronic textures and finding my voice in a digital landscape. But Mitxoda has never been about staying in one place for too long. Each release has carried me somewhere else, pushing me further from the familiar.

The next step in this journey was Étoiles d'Asphalte, a track where the urban landscape meets the stars. Étoiles d'Asphalte delved into the poetic connection between city life and cosmic wonder. The lyrics and the melodies reflect this dance between the concrete and the celestial, portraying a night walk through shimmering city lights with a gaze turned upwards to the starry sky. This track marked a pivotal moment where my music began to intertwine the earthly with the ethereal.

But that’s just another chapter in the story. In the weeks to come, I’ll share more about how these songs came to life and how they’ve shaped where Mitxoda is heading next.

Playlist of the Week: "Fellow Travelers 104: Hallowed Approaches" by Infinite Singularity

This week’s playlist comes from Infinite Singularity, and it’s a journey you won’t want to miss.

"Fellow Travelers 104: Hallowed Approaches" is 18 tracks and 1 hour 5 minutes of pure musical bliss. Featuring artists like Silhouette Cities, Smyyr (a huge favorite of mine), Talwarl (alternative rock from Marseille!), and Sugarcane Firewater, this playlist takes you on an epic voyage.

From snowy beginnings to forgotten names and lonely endings, the emotional arc might not seem uplifting, but trust me—it packs a punch!

Highlight: A New Chapter for To Die In Beauty

Exciting news from the To Die In Beauty camp! Allie Lane has officially joined the project, bringing her unique style and creative energy to their latest single. Her arrival signals not only a fresh chapter but also a broadening of the band's artistic direction.

Track Highlight: Check out their latest release, "To Die In Beauty," and experience the fresh dynamic Allie brings to the music.

Let’s give a warm welcome to Allie and stay tuned for more updates as this collaboration evolves!

Morino's Pause from Music

As some of you may have seen, Morino recently announced his decision to step away from creating music indefinitely. This news has been met with a wave of emotions, especially for those of us who have been deeply touched by his unique soundscapes and the introspective energy he brought to every release. His music has a way of connecting with listeners on a deep, emotional level, and it’s hard to imagine the indie scene without his presence.

Morino's decision to pause isn't just about stepping back from the creative process—it’s a moment of reflection for him as an artist, re-evaluating his path and what he wants to explore next. It can happen to all of us. While it’s difficult to say goodbye for now, we respect his need to take this time for himself and regroup. This is not a final farewell but rather a new chapter in his journey, one that we hope will bring him back to music when the time is right.

In the meantime, let’s celebrate what Morino has already given us. His catalog remains a testament to his creativity and depth as an artist, so let’s take a moment to revisit and relive the magic of his past releases. Listen again to Morino’s music here —a reminder of the incredible work that’s still with us, and hopefully, a preview of what might come in the future.

Mitxoda: Last Week in Review

It’s been an exciting week for Mitxoda! Here’s what went down:

  • Sourire au Chaos officially released on September 30th, and the feedback has been incredible! In just 10 days, the track has already garnered about 300 streams on Spotify, which is amazing for me! On top of that, it was featured on OTAT247 (On The Air Tonight) radio, gaining even more momentum.

Thank you to everyone who's been listening and supporting!

  • My track Seconde Vie was presented on the podcast L'Orgasme Acoustique by Holly Blood, for S.I.S. Radio. You can listen (in French) to the episode here.

  • Behind the scenes, I’ve been hard at work on the upcoming release of No Rescue (feat. Sonophagen). The final touches are being added, and we’re all set for the official release on October 18th—mark your calendars!

Stay tuned for more updates next week as we continue this journey together!

Artistic Spotlight: Crafting New Soundscapes with Subtlety

This week, I’m thrilled to spotlight Subtlety, an independent songwriter and composer based in Adelaide, Australia. Her journey into music is as inspiring as her sound. Just three years ago, Subtlety decided to take up the piano, and since then, she’s developed a remarkable passion for songwriting. Her songs are personal, layered with emotions that reflect her experiences, but they also carry a universal message of hope and resilience.

According to Subtlety herself, her mission is to produce music that encourages others to follow their dreams and to stay positive on their journeys. Her latest single, Autumn perfectly embodies this ethos. With each listen, you’re drawn deeper into her world, where her vocals intertwine with haunting melodies, creating a sound that’s both raw and beautifully refined. There’s something incredibly captivating about the way she tells stories through her music, making it impossible not to be moved.

What truly sets Subtlety apart is the authenticity she brings to every track. Whether it's the delicate piano notes or the emotional depth of her voice, you can feel the sincerity behind each composition (Some Hearts is just amaaaazing!). She’s not just creating music—she’s crafting a space for reflection, growth, and positivity.

If you haven’t listened yet, I highly recommend diving into her music and experiencing the magic for yourself.
