Mitxoda Weekly #5 – Let’s Dive Into the Indie World!
Dive into the pulse of indie music, the stories behind the notes, and this week’s creative odyssey.

Song of the Week : We Found Passion by William Lovitt & Synthetik Blonde (released on March 29, 2024).
Hi Dear Friend!
It’s time for the Mitxoda Weekly #5! You’ve made it! Welcome back to another week of indie discovery and creative expression. Let’s dive into what’s new in the Mitxoda universe and beyond!
Au menu, this week:
In just one week, No Rescue has already been streamed 170 times! For my first collaboration in English, that’s pretty incredible! Special thanks to Sonophagen, and huge applause to all of You for the continuous support—I couldn’t be more thrilled! 😻
Upcoming Release: Desertland (Out Nov 1)
Imagine standing in an endless expanse, the sun casting long shadows over an arid landscape. The air is still, and you’re enveloped in a silence that feels almost otherworldly. This is the world of Desertland, my upcoming instrumental release, and I’m excited to share it with you.
Desertland is more than a track—it's a journey through a vast, desolate soundscape. With minimal yet expansive instrumentation, the music reflects the raw beauty of solitude. Deep bass tones stretch out like the horizon, while atmospheric guitars create the sense of a distant wind sweeping through the desert. There’s a meditative quality that builds slowly, mirroring the idea of wandering through an unfamiliar landscape.
Inspired by those quiet, reflective moments we all experience, Desertland captures the essence of introspection. It invites listeners to lose themselves in its slow, deliberate rhythm, with subtle shifts in tone that guide you deeper into its world.
Though instrumental, the track tells a story of emotional exploration and patience, a journey through both external and internal landscapes. The creative process behind Desertland mirrored its theme—slowly unearthing something organic and raw.
Mark your calendars for November 1st, but if you want to be the first to experience this sonic journey, you can presave it now. Whether you’re driving through the night or simply seeking a moment of stillness, Desertland is a soundtrack for your own personal journey.

I prefer shorter updates (just the key highlights).
I enjoy in-depth stories and longer reads.
I'd like a mix of both short and long formats.
I’m happy with the current style and length.
Thanks to everyone who participated in last week's poll! It looks like Unique Sound, Authenticity, and DIY Ethic & Independence are leading the way as the top values in indie music. It’s great to see how much you value creativity and independence!
Story Time: A Journey Through Prognosis
This week, I want to go on with my first EP, Prognosis. These six tracks marked a turning point for me as both a composer and a human being. Each song is a reflection of the chaos and inner turmoil I was experiencing at that time, and they represent my first true attempt to channel those emotions into music.
![]() | Prognosis explores the fragility of life and the fine line we walk between despair and hope. The atmosphere of the EP is both haunting and ethereal, with a mixture of ambient textures and raw melodies that guide you through different emotional landscapes. I wanted the listener to feel the weight of every note, as though the music was speaking directly to the challenges we face as individuals. Themes like isolation, acceptance, and resilience come through in each track, not always with answers, but with the invitation to reflect. |
One of the most unique aspects of this EP is the special collaboration I had with Caroline Dorian, whose voice brought a striking depth to the track La Chute. Her vocals added an element of grace and intensity that elevated the song’s emotional gravity. She managed to convey both strength and vulnerability in a way that still moves me every time I listen.
What also makes Prognosis truly special to me is the personal touch from my own family. My kids joined me on one of the tracks, providing a very unique and intimate backing vocal. It wasn’t planned to be perfect; rather, it was their natural voices, raw and unfiltered, that added a layer of authenticity. Their contribution, subtle but powerful, underscores the theme of innocence and resilience amidst the chaos.
As a huge fan of progressive rock, especially bands like Genesis, I wanted to create something that feels unusual to the ears—something unique, yet still deeply enjoyable. That spirit of experimentation guided me throughout the creation of Prognosis. Another influence was the brilliant album Heaven and Hell by Joe Jackson and his friends. One track features an intense two-drum fight, and I kept that in mind while composing Prognosis Part 2: La Quête. That rhythmic tension was something I wanted to bring into my own work, blending it with the atmospheric storytelling that drives the whole EP.
Prognosis is a deeply personal work, filled with imperfections that make it all the more human. It’s a collection of music that doesn’t just invite you to listen, but to feel every twist and turn of the emotional journey it takes you on. If you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll take the time to experience it with fresh ears and an open heart.
Support for Lisa: A Call to Our Community
In our journey through music and life, we often encounter stories that touch our hearts and remind us of the strength of community. Today, I share a cause that is close to my hearts - for many reasons I could tell, another time. Lisa, the daughter of our friend Milan van Lien, the bass player from RedPrint, faces unique challenges every day due to her lifelong need for a wheelchair. Despite these challenges, Lisa's spirit and joy remain undiminished, especially her love for theme parks and music festivals.
Ensuring Lisa can continue to enjoy these experiences requires specialized transportation, which is why a GoFundMe has been set up to help secure a suitable vehicle for her. This isn’t just about aiding mobility but about enriching a young girl’s life with the experiences that bring her joy.
![]() | I invite you, all of you within the indie family, to help make a difference. If you feel moved to support Lisa, please consider contributing to her campaign. Every little bit helps and sharing her story can also amplify the impact. Thank you for showing that our community is not just about music, but about supporting each other in every aspect of life. |
Special thanks to the +50 generous donators, they have already raised €7,625 towards their goal of €45,000 for Lisa’s wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Every contribution counts, so let’s keep the momentum going and help make a real difference!
Playlist of the Week: "Airport Loneliness" by Mitxoda
Back in late July, I found myself stranded at the Budapest airport after a delayed Ryanair flight. To pass the time, I created a playlist that captured the melancholy of that experience. Airport Loneliness is a collection of tracks perfect for when you’re feeling a little lost, but also reflective. Give it a listen—it might just be the soundtrack to your next solo adventure. Find some gems coming from The Sanctity of Crows, Distance from Zero, SÆ, Electric BlindFold, amongst many others! |
Historical Fact of the Week: Two Very Different Revolutions
On October 23, 1956, Budapest erupted as the Hungarian Revolution began with a massive demonstration, a bold stand against Soviet rule that changed the nation's history (a deeply personal memory for my family, who lived through those harrowing days).
Exactly 42 years later, on October 23, 1998, Britney Spears sparked a different kind of revolution with her debut single …Baby One More Time. While the stakes were much lighter, Britney’s catchy tune and iconic video launched her into pop superstardom.
Two very different revolutions, decades apart, but both unforgettable in their impact.
Artistic Spotlight: The Flying Beets
Do you know "The Stupid Way You Breathe," or "Better Off Alone"? These are splendid titles made by The Flying Beets, a feel-good indie rock band from Fort Worth, Texas, US.
![]() | The band, made up of singer-songwriter Nathan Waller, bassist David Cross, and drummer Kenn Scott, has proven to be a formidable trio. Earlier this year, Villain showcased how far they’ve come in their musical journey. Clocking in at 3 minutes and 43 seconds, this track immediately grabs your attention with its warm and refreshing melody. As soon as Nathan’s vocals kick in, paired with the powerful rhythmic sections, it’s clear you’re in for a stellar musical experience. |
The catchy chorus takes the track to the next level, making it even more addictive. As the song progresses, Nathan’s voice becomes increasingly powerful, delivering a final performance that can only be described as breathtaking. With its deep and memorable lyrics, Villain offers a sonic journey through beautiful soundscapes, and you’re bound to love it. I highly recommend you give it a listen—you won’t be disappointed!
On top of that, The Flying Beets’ single The Stupid Way You Breathe, released on August 22, 2024, has already garnered over 33k views on YouTube in just two months. You know they started with their first single Maybe Baby on September 27, 2023. One year ago… and boom!! This band continues to captivate audiences, and I am excited to see where they’ll go next.
Podcast Spotlight: Current Interest by TimTMmusic
In this week’s podcast recommendation, Timothy Rodman, also known as TimTMmusic, brings us an incredible episode of the GBU Current Interest podcast. In Episode 19: Who Played the Trumpet for Prince?, Timothy sits down with Matt Blistan, a talented artist who went from playing trumpet for the legendary Prince (yes yes, the One and Only!) to becoming a life insurance and annuity agent. In this fascinating conversation, Matt dives into his journey and the creation of his artistic persona, Atlanta Bliss. It’s a story of transformation, creativity, and inspiration that you won’t want to miss.
As for Tim, the horizon is vast and filled with possibilities—he has many projects ahead, and the waves will soon bring more news. Stay tuned for what’s to come...
Until Next Week: A Celebration of Indie Spirit and Togetherness
In the indie universe, it’s all about being raw and real. From the unpolished edges of my EP Prognosis to the soul-stirring vibes of The Flying Beets, this week’s vibe is embracing the flaws that make everything feel more alive. The stories here aren’t just for listening—they’re for feeling deep in your bones.
But it’s not just about music. This week, we’re rallying for something bigger—helping out Lisa, the daughter of Milan from RedPrint, who needs a wheelchair-accessible ride. Because let’s be real, the indie family isn’t just about tunes. We’re about showing up when it counts. Let’s make a difference together.
Also, there’s Airport Loneliness—a playlist born out of a stranded night in Budapest, featuring tracks from The Sanctity of Crows, Distance from Zero, and other gems. It’s that perfect mix for when you’re lost in your own head or just need something to hold onto.
And looking ahead, my next release, Desertland, drops on November 1st. It’s an instrumental escape into wide-open soundscapes—minimalist but full of feeling. You can presave Desertland and be the first to ride that wave.
Thanks for sticking with me through this journey—we’re all in this indie family together, chasing the same dream.
