Hi friends,
This week’s about slowing down, and truly listening.
A quiet rebellion against noise, a world premiere that feels timeless, a call for connection from Christina Vox, and fresh indie gems from every corner of the planet.
Thank you for being here, for feeling, for caring.
You’re the pulse that keeps this indie heart alive.
Love, Mitxoda
Relearning How to Listen, and Why I Still Believe in Human Sound
This week, I watched Tracks on ARTE, an episode titled “Should We Relearn How to Listen to Music?” And it struck me right in the heart. Because it’s not only about streaming or algorithms. It’s about how we exist through sound.
We live in a time where music is everywhere, all the time, yet somehow less present than ever.
Playlists generate moods for us. Algorithms predict what we’ll want before we even feel it. Music has become a soft background, a wallpaper to our scrolling lives.
We’ve stopped listening.
And I ask myself;
👉 Am I still on the right path with Le Salon Indie?
👉 Could it be my own small resistance, a living, breathing echo of what NTS Radio represents?
Every Friday, around 400 of you read, listen, share. I think we can consider it as a pulse.
A quiet rebellion.
But I am not chasing algorithms. I‘d rather build meaning.
One track, one artist, one human connection at a time.
This feels small, fragile, but real.
And in times like these, real things are worth defending.
The danger of passive listening
Platforms reward comfort, not depth. Familiarity, not discovery. Engagement, not emotion. And when we stop paying attention to what we hear, we stop paying attention to ourselves.
We lose the ability to be shaken by a chord, a lyric, a silence.
As Esperanza Spalding said: “Music is surgery. You may love it or not, but when it’s there, you can’t deny it”
Music cuts. Music heals. It demands that we slow down.
I always say t’s a living thing.
When I started Le Salon Indie, I didn’t want a radio show. I wanted a place. Where music could simply exist. Without hurry. Without filters. Without metrics.
Each week, I take the pulse. And sometimes I feel growth. Sometimes, stagnation. But that’s okay. Because I don’t want to just be, I want to live it.
The Weekly was born from those same small notes I wrote every day. Little fragments of thoughts, emotions, sounds. They became a bridge. A way to connect people who still listen, not just consume.
Of course, I can’t speak for everyone, but I can feel this: we’re standing at a turning point. If we, indie artists, curators, listeners, don’t defend the act of listening, no one will.
Maybe the revolution won’t come from a viral hit. Maybe it will come from hundreds of small rooms, radios, newsletters, conversations like this one. People taking their time to feel again.
Because music isn’t content. (Sorry Daniel!)
It’s communion.
It’s hope.
It’s healing.
That’s why Le Salon Indie exists.
To listen.
To imagine.
To talk about it afterward.

World Premiere: “Legends” by Andy Smith & Emily E. Finke
This Friday, I’ll have the honor of premiering “Legends”, a breathtaking collaboration between two incredible artists, Andy Smith (Adelaide, Australia) and Emily E. Finke (USA).
“Legends” seems like a endless journey. It crosses mountains of gold and chases cities of light, telling a story of time, distance, and the fragile space between myth and truth. Written and produced across three continents, this track captures the essence of artistic connection beyond borders.
Andy Smith, a multi-award-winning singer-songwriter/producer and recipient of the 2025 ISSA International Single of the Year for “I Want To Take You Far,” brings his signature emotional depth and precision. Emily E. Finke, an award-winning creative entrepreneur, composer, and vocalist whose mezzo-soprano has been described as “the most beautiful voice of the 21st century”, infuses the track with elegance, warmth, and timeless storytelling.
Together, they’ve created something rare: a song that feels both ancient and new. “Legends” echoes through the murmuring wind, the ringing of bells, and the shared rhythm of two souls who dared to bridge 10,000 miles with music.
Don’t miss the first-ever world premiere of “Legends” this Friday, live on my show "Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda", 4pm CET > https://salon.mitxoda.be and Discord

Calling All Indie Dreamers!
Are there any musicians out there, amongst you gorgeous, sonically gifted creatures, in need of a remarkably soulful vocalist to complete your wild and wonderful ensemble?
Meet Christina Vox, the velvet-voiced heart behind Vox + Stix, currently a mic and a world of melodies waiting to bloom again.
She writes:
“I’d love to do another single for my Voxxy project. You guys were so supportive of Using the Shadows, it made me feel okay about putting my own music out into the world. I see everyone releasing new tracks and it makes me so happy, but also a little wistful that I can’t do it myself.
I’d be thrilled to record more of my own material (I just need some instrumentation!) or even collaborate on someone else’s. I’m mainly an alto, not the best voice maybe, but I’ve got a real knack for harmony, even on the fly. Vox + Stix is on hiatus for now, and honestly… I just miss singing so much. I could use a little joy right now. So I’m putting it out to the community. Any ideas?”
If your band, collective, or sonic experiment could use a radiant voice that blends warmth and emotion with pure indie soul, maybe this is the universe giving you a little nudge.
👉 Say hi to Christina here and let’s keep this community singing.
The next great track begins maybe with a message that starts: “Hey, I loved your vibe…”

Historical Fact: The Phantom Takes the Stage: A Legendary Premiere in London
On October 10, 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical The Phantom of the Opera made its grand debut at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End. Starring Michael Crawford as the tormented Phantom and Sarah Brightman as Christine Daaé, the production immediately captivated audiences with its sweeping score, haunting romance, and stunning stage design. Blending opera, gothic mystery, and emotional drama, it quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The show went on to win multiple awards and would later become one of the longest-running and most beloved musicals in theatre history, enchanting millions across the globe.
