Hey beautiful souls,

Halloween again.

That time of the year when fear becomes an art form, and anxiety feels strangely… fun.

Maybe it’s the only moment when we choose to be scared, to let our heartbeat race, to pretend danger is near, and to laugh about it right after. The thrill of being human, safely.

I’ve always loved horror films. The way they hold a mirror to our fears, and sometimes even our hope. I imagine kids at the door tonight, shouting like they never did before, 8 or 10 years old, pretending to be monsters, already learning that fear is something you can play with.

Last year I had a blast curating spooky songs. This time… I surrender. You all have been too productive lately! My inbox and playlists are overflowing, and honestly, that’s a beautiful kind of chaos.

Love, Mitxoda

Between Forest and Sea

I’ve just come back from two weeks off, between the Belgian coast and the deep Belgian Ardenne forest.

Family time. The kind that reminds you why life matters so much.

Celebrating, grieving, and preparing the next happy gathering. Because that’s what families do: they hold you when time slips too fast.

And Now…

You already know it… And Now, my new collab with Neon Vampire, is coming out on November 28. We talked about it last week, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.

And while I’m at it… Whispers

Another amazing creation is almost done, though it’s currently paying tribute to my overloaded to-do list 🙃. But trust me, this one will be a blast. Another beautiful collaboration I truly love.

Maybe we’ll premiere it soon, during a special edition of Le Salon Indie. Sounds like the right place, right?

The Salon Goes Further

Talking about the Salon, I’m so happy to announce a new collaboration with My Indie Radio.

Starting this Saturday, November 1, they’ll replay Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda every week, for your greatest listening pleasure.

Another small victory for indie music. Another bridge between voices that deserve to be heard.

On Being Mitxoda

Sometimes people tell me I don’t talk enough about Mitxoda.

They’re right. I spend most of my time shining light on others, on the artists, the dreamers, the fearless ones who keep this indie world alive. But tonight, maybe it’s time to open up a bit more.

The truth is, I’m exhausted. Not the kind of tired that comes from a sleepless night, the kind that seeps deep, where your body asks for pause but your mind keeps composing melodies. Between projects, collaborations, and the endless “to-do” lists that make up this strange life, I sometimes forget to breathe. I’ve been sick too lately, nothing dramatic, just enough to remind me that being human is not optional.

Yet even through this fog, there’s a spark that never goes out.

Because Mitxoda isn’t just an artist anymore, it has become something larger, something shared. A hub. A place where everyone is welcome: listeners, readers, friends, family, musicians, believers. A home for those who carry too many dreams in too little time.

Here, no one needs to pretend.

You can show up with your doubts, your drafts, your half-finished songs, or your half-broken heart. You can disagree, or even stay silent. The only rules are kindness, and maybe a cup of tea, coffee, or a good Belgian beer to keep the conversation flowing.

This is how I imagine Mitxoda:

Not a stage, but a table.

A space where no judgment sneaks in, where trust is free, where each person feels understood, as someone important, not just another name in a feed. We’ve all been missing that kind of trust, haven’t we? The kind that says you belong, even when the world tells you otherwise.

That’s what I hope this community can offer. A moment “between us,” away from noise and algorithms. A small, fragile, human space where music still means something.

Where your songs, your words, your art, your courage, all of it, find a place to breathe.

Because your battles are our battles.

Your wins, our joy.

Your doubts, our shared silence before the next note begins.

We will never give up. We will never surrender.

We will keep believing in what makes the indie world real: passion, mutual support, and endless care.

That’s my wish. My promise, even.

But what about you? Am I missing something?

Or are we, together, already building the place we’ve always needed?

Historical Fact: When Faith Hit the Airwaves

On October 30, 1987, George Michael released his debut solo album Faith, marking a defining moment in pop history. Blending funk, R&B, rock, and gospel influences, the record showcased his range as both a songwriter and performer. With timeless hits like “Faith,” “Father Figure,” and “I Want Your Sex,” Michael broke from his Wham! past to become one of the late '80s’ most powerful solo voices, confident, daring, and unapologetically himself. We still miss him today.

Nadine's Indie Treasures: Mostly Blue

Selected with precision by Nadine de Macedo

Formed around Denis Hulett, Mostly Blue is a musical collective that records songs with many different flavours. "Graceland-Never Been" is an uplifting zydeco bop, "Sunday Kinda Blue" is a slow blues while "Best Day" is rooted in Americana. If that's your kind of jam, listen to many songs of Mostly Blue, cause they're ALL different.

Until Next Week: Stay brave, stay indie, and keep dancing with your fears.

Halloween isn’t just about ghosts, pumpkins, or darkness.

It’s about remembering that even fear has its beauty, that trembling can mean you’re alive.

These past weeks reminded me how fragile and precious that feeling is. Between music, sickness, family, projects, and all the chaos that makes up this creative life, I’ve realized once again how lucky I am. Lucky to have you, listeners, readers, friends, fellow artists, all part of this constantly beating indie heart.

Mitxoda was never meant to be a brand, or even a name. It became a gathering. A quiet fire around which we sit, share, question, and sometimes just listen.

So here’s to that fire, to every flicker of passion that keeps us from fading out.

To all of you who dare to believe that indie still matters.

We will never give up.

We will never surrender.

We will keep building this home, note after note, word after word, soul after soul.

Until next week, keep your light on. Keep your heart loud.

Take care,
🖤 Mitxoda
