Mitxoda Weekly #26: Six Months of MW... and We’re Just Getting Started 💥
A special milestone, shared with special people.

Song of the Week : I wanna be Han Solo by The Banana Convention (released on May 6, 2008).
Hello Dear Friend!
Welcome to Mitxoda Weekly #26! …and if it’s your first time, glad to have you here!
Six months already.
Last night, I had the chance to celebrate this little milestone not alone… but with friends. Real friends.
Dave, Lisa, and everyone at the amazing OTAT247 show – you made it unforgettable.
For the first time, I was invited for a long live interview. And wow… what a ride!
So many emotions, so many good vibes, and a spark of new ideas too.
(Yes, my connection glitched a bit at the end… but honestly? It only added to the charm 😃. We were family. Together. Stronger.)
What better way to mark six months of Mitxoda Weekly than by sharing music, life, and laughs with this vibrant, loving, creative community?
I cherish what we have; this sweet spice that flavors our complicated lives with friendship, collaboration, and love.
This newsletter wouldn’t exist without all of you. Period.
We talked about a lot of things during the show.
Like why I started Mitxoda Weekly in the first place.
Truth is: I couldn’t find a newsletter that truly tells the day-to-day stories of all those indie bands and solo acts – the ones working in the shadows, building something beautiful.
So I created one. 😂
Not for stats, not for fame… but because I needed it.
And when I saw how much info and inspiration I was gathering each week, it was obvious: I had to share it.
Now, some new ideas are popping up…
👉 What if I created a Monthly Recap – for those who missed a few editions? A digest, just the essentials. Would you be into that? Just reply yes to this email and let me know!
👉 What if I turned these words… into sound? A podcast, maybe. A show. In English? In French? On OTAT247?
Who knows! I’m still figuring it out but hey, I’ve been fine-tuning this newsletter every week for 6 months, so I’m used to improvising. 😄
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Thank you for being you.
I wish you a happy reading!
Mitxoda Weekly: Six Months of Sound, Love, and Resistance
26 weeks. 205 subscribers. Countless conversations, discoveries, and moments of pure connection. What started as a simple idea, an indie newsletter thrown into the void, has become something far greater: a living, breathing space where music finds its voice, where stories refuse to be buried, where indie artists are not only heard but truly felt. Well, at least, I hope so 😄
Every Friday, an inbox fills not just with news, but with (heart-)beats. A space where the overlooked, the underappreciated, the banned, the fiercely independent can stand side by side and say: We are here. And the best part? 62% of you answer back.
You read, you react, you debate, you share.
This is so much more than I ever imagined. It's a real conversation, a shared mission, an indie haven we’re building together. Thank you for being part of it. You’ll ALWAYS be welcome here — the longtime readers know it, but it’s especially true for all of you who just joined. 😊
The past six months have been filled with joy, but also with hard truths. Through your voices, Mitxoda Weekly has become a window into an industry that often forgets its roots, that leaves too many behind. And so, without planning it, we have started something more. Celebrating indie music is one thing; actually, we are defending it.
Because I guess, if there is one thing these 26 weeks have made clear, it’s this: after our planet, the indie world is the most important thing to protect.
Why? Because indie music is more than sound. It’s resistance. It’s culture. It’s the raw, unfiltered expression of those who refuse to be molded by trends, buried by algorithms, or silenced by corporate greed. It’s the sound of survival, of reinvention, of truth. And that is worth fighting for.
Six months in, and we are only just beginning. To every subscriber, every artist, every supporter who has made Mitxoda Weekly what it is: thank you. For every message, every share, every song recommendation, every discussion, this newsletter exists because of you. And it will keep growing with you.
Here’s to the next 26 weeks. To more music, more voices, more resistance.
We create. We resist. We rise.
Mitxoda: Carving Sound Into Existence
To be honest, I never set out to be a name. It started as a bunch of songs, a voice lost in the digital shuffle. I was just another musician trying to be heard. I started Mitxoda because I needed it. It was selfish, I agree. I was just not aware of the amazing Indie world around me. I felt love. I felt support. I felt energy. Building this newsletter was my answer. I really wanted to give back, support and show my love to everyone.
Of course, I can’t name everybody but Mitxoda Weekly has been made for you, thanks to your energy. I mean it. And somehow, the spark caught on.
"Mais la vie file, et parfois elle nous sépare, (But life rushes by, sometimes pulling us apart)" I once sang. And yet, against all odds, the fire refused to fade. It burned brighter, week after week, in the hearts of those who believed, those who knew that art was never meant to be confined by invisible walls or strangled by the greed of industry giants.
Spotify could silence, Facebook could shadowban, the industry could scoff, but it could never erase what was real. Music is not content. It’s life pulsing through speakers, through us. And maybe, just maybe, I became part of that heartbeat. A movement, a rallying cry, a rebellion wrapped in melody and noise.
From the dimly lit basements where broken amps howled into the night, to the vast silence of Bandcamp pages waiting for a single listen, the indie scene carried its scars. But also its power: an unstoppable wave of creation, of resilience, of truth. "Sourire au chaos, danser sous l'orage, trouver la lumière, dans l'ombre du passage. (Smile at the chaos, dance through the storm, find the light in the shadowy corners.)" I declared. The current unstable times we are living in should not hold us back.
I was not alone. With every whispered lyric, every distorted chord, every trembling bassline that spoke of struggle and survival, more voices joined. "Sous le voile de la nuit, la ville respire, (Under the night’s veil, the city breathes.)" I sang, for in the depths of obscurity, the indie spirit was alive.
"I’m not looking for a rescue, just a place to catch my breath," I echoed through the streets, in the silent frustrations of every artist who carved their own path through a system designed to erase them.
And so, the call grew louder. Every week, the voices gathered in Mitxoda Weekly, not just as an audience, but as a living, breathing conversation. They carry the rhythm forward, turning a simple newsletter into a place where indie artists are not just seen, but heard.
It's a pulse, a connection, a reminder that this music, this movement, refuses to be swallowed by the void.
I never imagined being able to keep that weekly pace. Almost alone. I say almost, because some collabs happen. And I think of more collabs soon. And even a French version of it (as said above). And maybe even more than just a newsletter… Stay tuned 😆
Playlists handcrafted by passion, not by profit. Crowdsourced albums that belonged to no corporation. A chorus of voices rising together, unafraid, unbought. "Chaque pas résonne, dans ce monde inconnu, vers l'infini, notre esprit s'est tendu. (Each step resonates in this unknown world, towards infinity, our spirit stretches.)" The message was clear: it was not about algorithms or corporate reach. It was about something far greater, about reclaiming the right to be heard. The right to be loved. No matter what.
We create. We resist. We rise.
